Juniper EX Series – verify IP address of an interface via shell mode

This article would guide you to verify  MTU, MAC address, and IP address of Juniper EX series switches via the shell mode. At times, this information is helpful during troubleshooting.  You can use the show interface terse command in the operational mode to check the IP address that is assigned to the interface/interfaces of EX switches. Also remember that interfaces are always displayed in numerical order, from the lowest to the highest FPC slot number. Within that slot, the lowest PIC slot is shown first. On an individual PIC, the lowest port number is always first. The following commands are issued in the shell mode of the switch: user@switch > start shell user@switch % ifconfig  to obtain the information of any specific interface. user@switch% ifconfig to obtain the information of all the interfaces. The following example shows the MAC address, MTU, and IP address, which are configured for the me0 interface: user@switch% ifconfig me0 me0: encaps: ether; framing: ether flag
